Walter, essential dates
1965: Lucien Walter started a company specialising in manufacturing tarpaulins for lorries in Mundolsheim, on the outskirts of Strasbourg.
1980s: The company moved into the manufacturing of mobile structures and filed several patents in the aluminium fame and synthetic membrane fields.
1987: Diversification and rapid growth led to the firm moving its head office to Brumath, 20 km north of Strasbourg.
1992 : Beginning of the swimming pool cover business, now called "Walter".
1st July 2003: Creation of Walter SAS, after the company was bought out by German group Losberger.
2006: Walter asserted its capacity for innovation on the swimming pool safety cover market with the launch of WALU LOCK, a 100% automatic safety cover.
2010: Walter SAS changed its name to Losberger France SAS.
The swimming pool cover division kept its name, "Walter".
2011: Another innovation: Walter launched WALU DECK, a mobile deck combining the advantages of a wooden deck with those of a safety cover to transform the pool into an extension of the outdoor living space which can be used all year round.
